17th Century Sconces

2025

For Huis Van Gijn in Dordrecht, the Netherlands

My friends over at ‘De Koperslagerij’ in Amsterdam reached out to me as a subcontractor to make two replicas of 17th century style wall sconces for the museum Huis van Gijn in Dordrecht. Based on a partly destroyed original which was sent to me, I chased these two sconces out of brass in the ‘Chasing & Repoussé’ technique.

Historically candles would have been mounted in front of these polished brass items, which reflected the light back into the room.
